A shape moves at the tree line at 2am. It could be a deer, a pig, or someone standing at your fence. Knowing something is out there is not the same as knowing how far away it sits, and that one number changes what you do next. These night vision binoculars put an 1800m laser in the barrel alongside the optics, so the distance appears in the same view the moment you press the button.

Key Features

  • Range Out To 1800m - press once and the distance to whatever you are looking at appears in the view, so you are working from a number instead of a guess.
  • Accurate To 1 Metre Under 400m - and within 0.4 percent beyond that, which works out around 6 metres at 1500m. Solid targets read better than thin scrub.
  • 1500m Detection On A Full Moon - measured against a building-sized object, or 1000m on a quarter moon with the infrared on. In daylight it keeps going to the horizon.
  • One 50mm F0.9 Objective - a single wide, fast front lens does all the light gathering, which is the difference between picking something out at distance and wondering whether you saw anything at all. The second barrel holds the rangefinder and the infrared.
  • Choose 850nm Or Invisible 940nm - 850nm reaches further into the dark, 940nm gives off nothing a person or an animal can notice. Three brightness levels on each.
  • Twist The Beam Narrow Or Wide - the illuminator ring turns, so you can throw a tight beam a long way or spread it across close ground.
  • 6X To 36X Magnification - wind it up on the dial under your thumb to pick out detail, then back down for a wide look at the paddock.
  • 4K Video At 60fps - records 2880 x 2160 with stabilisation built in, plus 16.12MP photos, so you have something to show rather than a story to tell.
  • Twin OLED Eyepiece Displays - a separate 1024 x 768 screen for each eye in five colour modes, which is easier on the eyes than one shared panel.
  • Eyecups Hide The Screen Glow - the folding cups keep the light off your face, so you are not lit up every time you raise them.
  • Buttons That Make No Sound - power, infrared, ranging and recording are all silent, which matters when the thing you are watching can hear you.
  • Four 18650 Cells Included - a full set comes in the box, so it works the night it arrives. Pull two out when you want it lighter on a long walk.
  • 8.5 Hours Between Charges - enough for a full night out, though leaning on the infrared light all evening will pull that back. A USB-C power bank in your pocket takes over.
  • Built-In Electronic Compass - gives you the bearing along with the distance, so a spot you find tonight is a spot you can walk back to.
  • Picture-In-Picture Zoom Window - a magnified box in the corner of the view, so you can study something without losing sight of everything around it.
  • Watch It Live On Your Phone - pair it over WiFi and a mate beside you sees the same picture on their handset, and can take their own photos and video from it.
  • 1/4" Tripod Thread Underneath - screw it onto a tripod for a long sit, because holding a bit over a kilo steady at 36X for an hour is harder than it sounds.
  • Cells, Charger And Card Included - open the box and it is ready to go. Batteries, charger, 32GB card, reader, both leads and a case to carry it in.

Real-World Scenarios

  1. Checking the property after dark. Something is moving near the shed. You range it at 210m, zoom in, and see it is a roo rather than a person. Ten seconds, no torch, and nobody outside knows you looked.
  2. Hunting and pest control. Pigs on a dam wall read 340m out. You know the distance before you commit to the stalk, the 940nm light keeps you unnoticed on the way in, and the footage settles any argument about what was taken.
  3. Watching wildlife you would otherwise miss. Owls, possums and deer all move once the light goes. Widen the beam for close work, record in 4K, and note the range and bearing so you can find the same spot next week.

How It Works

  1. Set Up - Slide in two or four cells, adjust the eyecups to your eye spacing, and turn each eyepiece until the picture is crisp.
  2. Look - Turn the dial to zoom, switch the infrared on if it is properly dark, and pick the colour mode that suits your eyes.
  3. Range And Record - Press the button for the distance, hold the other to record 4K, then send it to your phone over WiFi or a TV over HDMI.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do night vision binoculars work in daylight?

These ones do. A filter slides in automatically once the light comes up and you get a normal colour picture, all the way to the horizon. Plenty of night vision gear is night only, so it is worth checking before you buy anything else.

2. What should you look for in night vision binoculars?

Front lens size, how far it really sees, and whether it records. A 50mm F0.9 objective gathers far more light than the small front lenses most pairs use, and 4K recording means you keep proof rather than just a memory of what happened.

3. Will animals or people notice the infrared?

Not on the 940nm setting, which produces no visible glow at all. The 850nm setting reaches further into the dark but shows a faint red point up close if somebody looks straight at the lens. Pick whichever matters more that night.

4. How long do the batteries last, and are they included?

Around 8.5 hours per set of cells, dropping noticeably if the infrared light runs all night. The 18650 batteries and a charger unit both come in the box, and a USB-C power bank plugs straight in when you want longer than that.

5. Can I put the footage on my computer or TV?

Two ways off the card. A USB card reader is included for the computer, and a micro HDMI lead runs straight to a TV or monitor. The free phone app is separate: it mirrors the live view over WiFi and lets you shoot photos and video straight from the handset.

6. Is the 36X zoom optical or digital?

Six times of it is optical, from the 50mm objective, and the rest is digital out to 36X. Every digital night vision binocular of this type works the same way. The big front lens is what stops the zoomed picture falling apart.

Lawful Use

Use it on your own place, or somewhere you have permission to be. Filming people during a private activity without their consent is restricted, and the rules differ from state to state. It uses a Class 1 eye-safe laser.
