You park on the street and walk away, and for the next nine hours you have no idea what is happening to your car. This dash cam has a SIM in it, so you can open your phone and see where it is on a map, how fast it is moving, and what both lenses are looking at right now. It also runs Always On Video, which means it keeps filming the whole time it sits there rather than waiting for a bump to wake it up. Two radar sensors buzz your phone when somebody steps in close. We are Sydney based, the stock is here in Australia, and the warranty is local.
Key Features & Benefits
- See where your car is, right now - Built-in GPS reports live position, road speed and the route it took straight to your phone over 4G, so a car that has been moved or taken can be followed rather than just reported.
- It never stops filming while parked - Always On Video records continuously instead of sleeping until something happens, so you get the minute before the scratch as well as the scratch itself.
- Two radar sensors, not one - The road lens and the cabin lens each have their own radar, and each raises its own alert, so the notification tells you which camera picked something up before you open the app.
- Watch from anywhere, not just the driveway - Because it runs on a mobile SIM rather than a short-range link, live view and playback work from the office, the shops or another state.
- What the SIM buys you over a plain 4K camera - A camera without a SIM only talks to your phone while you are standing next to the car, and its GPS is a logger you read back later. This one shows you the car and its position live, from anywhere, which is the part you want when the car is not where you are.
- Sharp on the road and inside the car - Two 3MP lenses record in 2K. The front one looks out at the traffic, and the second faces back into the car, so you get whoever is aboard rather than the vehicles behind you.
- Sees inside once it gets dark - Three infrared LEDs at 940nm come on as the cabin loses daylight, bright enough to make out faces and invisible to the people in the car, because 940nm sits past what the eye can see.
- Bumps get saved automatically - The G-sensor locks the footage as protected the moment it feels an impact, and a button on the unit does the same by hand when you want a moment kept.
- A button that turns everything off - Privacy Mode stops recording and blocks remote viewing of video and audio until you switch it back, for the times you would rather not be filmed in your own car.
- About a day and a half on a 256GB card - Two channels recording continuously fill a card at that rate, then loop over the oldest footage. Locked events survive the loop, and optional cloud storage, paid separately in the app, keeps a copy off the card.
- Speak through the car - A microphone and speaker let you talk to whoever is inside from the app.
- Plugs into the OBD2 port, no wiring - The cable in the box runs from the camera straight to your car's OBD2 socket, which is the connector under the dash your mechanic plugs into. That keeps power on after the ignition is off, which is what parking cover needs.
- Knows the difference between a bump and a body - A PIR sensor reads body heat inside the cabin, so somebody who has actually got into the car registers as a person rather than as another knock against the door.
- No battery to cook over summer - Power is held by a built-in super-capacitor instead of a lithium cell, so there is nothing inside to swell or give up after a run of hot afternoons on the windscreen.
- Filming non-stop uses more card - Two channels around the clock fill a card faster than a motion-triggered camera, so fit the biggest one you can. The camera itself is built for low power draw, but it is still drawing from the car while it sits there.
Real-World Scenarios
- Something happens to the car while you are inside the shops - The radar alert reaches your phone while you are still in the queue, so you open the live view and see what is going on rather than finding out an hour later. Because the camera never stopped filming, the minutes before the alert are on the card too.
- Your teenager takes the car out - You can see on the map where it actually went and how fast it was going, so a conversation about the drive has facts in it rather than a guess.
- The car is gone when you come out - Instead of telling police where you last parked, you open the app and give them where it is now, along with the route it took and a live look inside.
How It Works
- Set it up - Slide in your own data SIM and a microSD card before switching on, stick the pad to the windscreen and clip the camera on, then angle the bracket at the road.
- Give it power that stays on - Plug the supplied cable into the OBD2 socket under the dash and it stays awake once the key is out. Hardwiring to a fuse is an option if you would rather the cable was hidden.
- Check it from your phone - Add it in the free smartphone app and you have live footage, the map and the alerts wherever you are.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do you hardwire a dash cam?
You may not have to. The cable in the box plugs into the OBD2 socket under the dash and already gives the camera power with the ignition off. Hardwiring to a fuse is only worth the trouble if you want the cable completely out of sight.
2. How long does dash cam footage last?
It depends on the card. Filming two 2K channels non-stop, a 256GB card holds roughly a day and a half before it loops over the oldest footage. Anything the G-sensor locks is protected from that loop and can be backed up to the cloud.
3. Does this dash cam come with a SIM card?
Yes, one comes in the box. You register it and pick a plan before the live features work, since it arrives with no data on it. If you would rather use your own, any Australian SIM on a data plan will work instead.
4. Does the second camera film the road behind me?
No, it points inwards. It records passengers and the inside of the car, which is what you want for rideshare or keeping an eye on the kids. For footage of the traffic behind, pick a model with a separate camera for the rear window.
